The brainLight technology is regularly tested in studies

The studies are typically conducted by universities, hospitals or companies. The results of all studies carried out so far have confirmed the respective positive hypotheses.

1) Successful testing phase and preliminary clinical study at the Johannesbad specialist clinic Bad Füssingen. Publication: 03/2015

During the follow-up treatment of tumor patients with prostatectomy, the specialist clinic Bad Füssingen has been successfully utilizing the brainLight-Systems for many years.
In the acute, postoperative phase, utmost importance is placed on the patients’ physical and mental stability, through the application of stress management and relaxation therapies. Not all patients are, however, receptive to the traditional relaxation therapy, such as psycho-oncological, autogenous training or progressive muscle relaxation. In these cases, the brainLight-Systems have been used successfully, showing a high degree of acceptance from the patients.
Furthermore, the specialist clinic has now commissioned a new format for measurement reading, in the form of a headband with integrated sensors for neuro-feedback, skin conductance and skin temperature. The measured data will be transmitted via Bluetooth into an adjacent control room, where it will be registered without subjective interference from the patient. Simultaneously, a questionnaire (as with the brainLight sessions) will substantiate the measurement data.

2) Study on the contribution of effective recovery during breaks at work to business health management. Publication: 10/2014
The subject of investigation at the University of Bonn-Rhein-Sieg was selected interventions that could increase concentration levels and relaxation during breaks at works. After a brainLight session, the concentration level of certain participants rose, on average, by 24% and their ability to relax increased by 79% on average.

3) EuPD Study. Publication 11/2013
This study proves the return of investment on brainLight-Systems in the area of health management in businesses. 13 companies took part, each with 8-120 participants, including Nestlé, SAP and Unilever. In conclusion, small to moderate improvements were noticed in terms of both health and performance. The most significant improvements were recorded in the back area, inner balance and concentration levels.

4) Clinical study at Rosedale Wellness Centre, Toronto. Publication: 08/2013
Subject of the study of investigation by Professor Henry Moller: „Technology-Enhanced Multimodal Meditation“ (TEMM) using a brainLight-Shiatsu Massage Chair, and „Light and Sound Meditation“ (LSM) using an audio-visual brainLight-System. The purpose: to prove the clinical use of LSM as an additional form of therapy for patients. The initiative for this study primarily arose from the clinical need for safe, effective and well-tolerated psychological therapies. The use of the Systems by a wide range of clinical patients indicates that TEMM-LSM can help relieve a range of stress-related symptoms. This important clinical study undertaken in North America shows both the use of brainLight in health management as a preventative measure, as well as the important role it can play as a form of therapeutic intervention.

5) The healthy-worker study: Analysis of the heart rate variability (HRV) parameter and the participants’ subjective experience. Publication: 06/2013
The present study should give some indication as to whether the audio-visual relaxation system has a stress-relieving effect. The objective of this bachelor thesis was to measure the stress index of the participants using heart rate variability (HRV). Significant correlation between the variables of the participants’ subjective experience and the HRV parameter showed a link between the physiological and psychological data, meaning improved concentration levels and performance levels during working hours. Overall, the results of the study confirm the proposition that breaks during working hours should be put to good use to gain new energy and strength. This means that an increased level of performance can be expected after breaks.

6) Project at Westfalen Clinic, Dortmund. Carried out: 05/2013
This project required cooperation between the SRH University Berlin, the Westfalen Clinic, and brainLight GmbH. The objective of the pilot project in the Westfalen Clinic was to determine the use of a brainLight-System as a potential form of support for hospitals in the future. Students from the SRH University carried out the project.

7) Study on emotional intelligence in care homes. Publication: 04/2013
Subject of the study was an EQ seminar that Professor Christoph Tiebel from the University of Heilbronn held with the employees of a Bavarian Red Cross (BRK) care home.  After 4 weeks of using the brainLight-System, 91% of the participants could recall the content of the seminar. Conclusion: brainLight sessions support employees to retain previously learnt information.

8) Healthy-worker study. Publication: 07/2012
Subject of the study by the Schwenninger health insurance company, Furtwangen University and IB Consulting, as well as brainLight GmbH, was the question: can a brainLight session minimize stress levels? The result was very impressive. The stress index of 81.5% of the participants in the main study was reduced by a significant 20% on average.

9) Impact study at the Johann Bernhard Mayer Caritas-care home, Lauda. Publication: 2011
85% of the participants felt an improvement in their physical wellbeing after using the brainLight-System 2 to 3 times per week. In addition to this, the psychological constitution of 86.5% of the participants was strengthened. Around half of the 159 sessions were rated by the participants as “very good”.

10) Project by the Spectrum of Knowledge Institute. Carried out: 06/2010-09/2010
The institute tested the brainLight learning medium for children – Synchro be clever – on the change in the learning behavior of 8 students. After only a short time they showed an increased tendency for improvement, demonstrated through their ability to pay more attention at the beginning of lessons. This ability could then be further developed to work for a longer period of time at a higher individual level of concentration.

11) Project II by the Spectrum of Knowledge Institute. Carried out: 2009
Among 2 groups of students from other participating schools, students showed a clear increased level of learning receptivity from the very beginning after using the brainLight-Synchro be clever. Accompanied by educational work from the parents, positive balanced behavior of the students was also experienced within the family.

12) Project at the Montessori Day School and Opnet inc.. Carried out: 2009
Investigation carried out by Dr. Rayma Ditson-Sommer. The objective of the study was to prove the value of neuro-technological light and sound sessions in schools to improve learning. The results clearly indicate that the children benefitted from everyday use.  There was significant progress on the development of serenity and relaxed participation in lessons.

13) EDAG study in cooperation with the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK). Publication: 09/2009
A study by the car manufacturer EDAG in Fulda revealed the following effects of brainLight relaxation on the employees: 91.9% of users felt positive effects on their muscles and back area, 51% on their head and eyes, 78.1% on stress relief and relaxation, and 84.7% on their motivation through relaxation.

14) Diploma thesis at the Friedrich-Alexander University, Erlangen-Nuremberg. Carried out: 01/2009
Increased memory performance and concentration levels after a brainLight session were detected by graduate Viktor Wuchrer in the subject of Psychology.

15) Clinical experience report at Rosedale Wellness Centre, Toronto. Carried out: 2009
The results of this positively-received clinical program in Toronto confirms that difficulties going to and/or remaining asleep, fatigue, headaches, vertigo, bodily tension such as anxiety and feelings of depression appear to be treatable with the use of a brainLight-System. In relation to this, participating patients were able to report increased vitality in everyday life.

16) Impact analysis at the University of Hohenheim. Publication: 02/2003
The impact analysis was carried out by Dr. Meike Wiedemann from the Institute for Physiology in the membrane physiology department at the University of Hohenheim. This analysis detected the frequency-response-sequence using EEG, suggesting that the brainLight-System was able to adjust physiological parameters using pre-set visual and acoustic stimuli.

17) Study at the University of the German Federal Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) in Hamburg
The study was carried out by Dr. Klaus J. Landeck. In this study he found that the visual-acoustic stimulation from a brainLight-Synchro SL is subjectively effective, as the participants experienced effects dependent upon the programs.

18) Study at the Schloss Friedensburg skin clinic. Carried out: 1992 – 1995
The study was carried out under the guidance of Dr. med. I. Lasaroff with 1,100 patients. Those who suffered from an irritating itch were immediately relieved after the session. A distinct positive effect was also noted among patients in psychosomatic care.
